PFGs with Korea and Serbia Meet

The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Korea of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia met today with the delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia of the Parliament of the Republic of Korea in official visit to Serbia.


The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Korea Dr Ljubica Mrdakovic Todorovic welcomed the delegation saying how pleased she was that they are visiting on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Head of the PFG said that the friendly relations between the two countries could be improved on almost all levels. She opined that the cooperation could be improved through interparliamentary visits which would prompt an expansion of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, sport, tourism, environmental protection and others.

The head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia of the Parliament of the Republic of Korea Jongkoo Lee said that Korea supports Serbia’s strategic commitment to Euro-integration, as well as the country’s economic development and reforms it is currently conducting. He added that in the course of the official visit the delegation would also meet with Korean entrepreneurs doing business in Serbia to discuss expanding investments.

Dr Ljubica Mrdakovic Todorovic took the opportunity to thank the Republic of Korea for its humanitarian aid in the field of child healthcare, adding that the 2017 Memorandum of Cooperation is an excellent starting point to expand cooperation between educational and other institutions such as museums. She mentioned the Korean Embassy’s outreach to the people of Serbia through the Days of Korean Culture last year adding that Serbia also supports the cooperation between the two countries’ towns and municipalities.

Members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Korea Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, MA Jadranka Jovanovic, Doc. Dr Ivan Bauer and Hajji Milorad Stosic also spoke with the visiting parliamentary delegation about deepening cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture and the media.

The officials also mentioned cooperation in interparliamentary organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, whose next assembly is to be hosted by Serbia, 13-17 October 2019, which will be an excellent opportunity for high-tier meetings and talks about bilateral cooperation.
