National Assembly Speaker Receives Report on Implementation of Strategy for Improvement of Status of Roma
Today, the National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic received the Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic’s Report on the implementation of the strategy for the improvement of the status of Roma, with recommendations.
In the course of the meting the officials concluded that there has been progress but the results achieved have not removed all the obstacles to the socio-economic integration of Roma. At the same time they noted the lack of a fully-developed normative basis for the implementation of long-term measures to reduce poverty and achieve essential equality for Roma citizens, caused by omissions in public administration.
After the meeting, the National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic, Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic and the Chairman of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Meho Omerovic held a press conference.
