National Assembly Speaker Meets with US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Director

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with Director of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Damian Murphy, to discuss strengthening cooperation between Serbia and the United States of America.

In the course of the meeting, Speaker Brnabic emphasised the importance of deepening political dialogue and developing specific joint projects in areas of mutual interest, including energy, regional stability and economic development. She also stressed the importance of intensifying the Strategic Dialogue between Serbia and the USA, as well as further strengthening the parliamentary cooperation with the US Congress, which would solidify mutual trust and partnership.

The officials also discussed the cooperation with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) aimed at improving the electoral process in Serbia. Speaker Brnabic said that the parliament’s working group and civil society organisations are actively working on the implementation of ODIHR recommendations.

Both sides confirmed the willingness to improve cooperation through dialogue and activities leading to the development of long-term relations between the two countries.
