In the meeting at the Serbian Assembly, the National Assembly Speaker said that relations between Serbia and Montenegro have reached their highest point since the time of the independence.
“Our relations are at an exceptionally high level, very friendly, but there is still room for further improvement”, said Gojkovic.
The Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister agreed that the two countries’ relations are exceptionally good and have markedly improved in the last two years.
Luksic stressed that the relations should be pragmatically deepened via concrete cooperation channels opining that the two countries’ parliaments should play a particularly important role in the process.
Gojkovic thanked Montenegro for the assistance it extended to flood-stricken Serbia.
“Montenegro’s help was swift and significant, and most importantly it came from the heart”, said Gojkovic adding that the disastrous floods that struck the region proved the need for increased cooperation.
Pointing out that Serbia has a lot of work to do on alleviating the impact of the floods, the National Assembly Speaker said that she was sure that even though Serbia has to mainly rely on itself, it would not be left to its own devices on the road to recovery.
Gojkovic and Luksic agreed that the two countries should continue to cooperate, especially in the spheres of economy and Euro-integration.
