Greeting the guests, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Konstantin Arsenovic said how pleased he was with the visit of the First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council. He deemed the relations between Serbia and the Russian Federation good and friendly, hoping that the cooperation between the two states would continue in the future on a healthy and constructive basis. Deputy Speaker Arsenovic congratulated Torshin on the order of King Milutin awarded him on the behalf of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church by Patriarch Irinej deeming it a reflection of the good cooperation and friendly relations.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council opined that Serbia and the Russian Federation should boost cooperation at all levels, emphasising the importance of promoting interparliamentary cooperation, overall agricultural cooperation, trade and cooperation between Russian and Serbian regions.

In the course of the meeting, Dragomir Karic pointed out the importance of improving economic cooperation between the two states which is at the moment quite realistic in view of the Russian Federation’s agricultural state program.

The officials agreed that the regions of the Russian Federation should establish connections with the south, southeast and other regions of Serbia for the purpose of investment into Serbian agricultural production.

The meeting was also attended by MPs Milovan Drecun, Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Branislav Blazic and Jelena Mijatovic.
