National Assembly Delegation at Seminar on Fight against Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering

A delegation of the National Assembly took part in a seminar organised by the European Parliament, titled “Fight against Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering", in Brussels on 4 and 5 March 2013.


The delegation comprised Momir Stojanovic and Jozef Sandor, members of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee.

The two-day seminar attended by parliamentarians from Western Balkan countries and Turkey was dedicated to the role and positions of the European Parliament in the EU policy on fighting organised crime, corruption and money laundering in relation to the Western Balkans and Turkey, trafficking in human beings and organised crime, asset confiscation, drug cartels and their links with European organised crime, corruption in relation to public procurement, parliamentary efforts to improve the fight against organised crime, corruption and money laundering, etc.

National Assembly delegation member Momir Stojanovic had a presentation on “Parliamentary efforts to improve the fight against organised crime, corruption and money laundering”.

On the second day of the parliamentary seminar the National Assembly delegation spoke with the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina comprising Ognjen Tadic, Deputy Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Mirsad Mesic, member of the Joint Committee on Supervision of the Work of the Intelligence and Security Agency.

In the meeting they exchanged experiences garnered in the fight against organised crime, corruption and money laundering, as well as in the European integration process. National Assembly delegation member Momir Stojanovic presented Republic of Serbia’s institutional framework for the fight against organised crime, corruption and money laundering and the results the Government of the Republic of Serbia has achieved in the matter so far. He stressed that the National Assembly would, by developing its supervisory function, via its control of the executive and legislative activity, continue to fully contribute to reaching international standards in the fight against corruption and crime.
