Ambassador Orpana was pleased to be the meeting the Group members and commended the formation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Finland at the National Assembly. On the occasion, following a presentation on his country, Ambassador Orpana opined that the two countries’ traditional friendship provides a good basis to further improve their relationship. The Ambassador shared his support of the efforts Serbia makes in its progress toward European Union membership. He stressed that there are political and economic reasons to further develop the two countries’ relations, as well as an interest on his country’s part to promote economic cooperation in all spheres.
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Finland, Dragan Sormaz, thanked the Ambassador for the reception, on the behalf of all the Group members present, expressing his belief that the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Finland would contribute to the improvement of interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries. He was also pleased to have the opportunity to head the Friendship Group in the current legislature, saying he was sure that future meetings between the two friendship groups would be an occasion to discuss topics of interest for the improvement of overall cooperation between Serbia and Finland. He declared the cooperation with Finland extremely significant, urging for the further improvement of bilateral, particularly economic, cooperation within the traditionally friendly relations.
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Finland said they expected the Friendship Group’s activity to contribute to furthering the relations between Serbia and Finland.
In addition to the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Finland, Dragan Sormaz, the meeting with Ambassador Orpana was also attended by Parliamentary Friendship Group members Maja Gojkovic, Slavica Savic, Vera Paunovic and Boro Kovacevic.
