Dr Neven Cveticanin stated that the two countries share traditionally friendly relations, adding that Serbia especially appreciates the fact that Spain has not recognised the independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
Ambassador Beltrán said that the two countries share similar political views and that Spain endorses Serbia’s European integration. Ambassador Beltrán applauded the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Spain, pointing out that it would contribute to the further improvement of interparliamentary cooperation.
In the course of the meeting the officials discussed the prospects for furthering the two countries’ cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, food industry, renewable energy resources, culture and education. They also emphasised the importance of furthering interparliamentary cooperation through the exchange of parliamentary delegation visits and cooperation between the two parliaments’ working bodies.
They stressed that Serbia would find both Spain’s transition experiences and its regionalisation model invaluable.
In addition to the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, Dr Neven Cveticanin, the meeting with the Spanish Ambassador was also attended by Radoslav Milovanovic and Balint Pasztor, Parliamentary Friendship Group members.
