This is the first time in its history that the Bulgarian National Assembly has organised the award ceremony in memory of Bulgaria’s liberation from the Ottoman Empire.
On the occasion, the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Bulgaria also met with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev.
Besides the National Assembly's delegation, the festivities marking the 135th anniversary of Bulgaria’s liberation, held on 2 and 3 March 2013 in Sofia, were also attended by the parliamentary representatives of the Russian Federation, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Moldova and Montenegro.
