Sanda Raskovic Ivic, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Italy, stressed that Serbia and Italy enjoy traditionally good relations, emphasising the importance of further improving interparliamentary cooperation, as well as cooperation in the spheres of economy and culture.
Ambassador Armando Varricchio deemed the relations between the two countries friendly, highlighting the intense cooperation achieved in the spheres of politics, economy and culture. Ambassador Varricchio said that Italy supported Serbia’s European integration process, commending the efforts of Serbia's top officials to resolve the problems on the territory of Kosovo-Metohija. The Italian Ambassador informed the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group about the political situation in Italy, as well as the economic and social challenges the state faces.
In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries, Italian investment into the Serbian market, as well as the potentials for deepening the cooperation between Italian and Serbian universities further.
Ambassador Varricchio stressed that he would initiate the formation of a Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia in the Italian Parliament so as to further promote interparliamentary cooperation.
In addition to the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Italy, Sanda Raskovic Ivic, the meeting with the Italian Ambassador was also attended by Parliamentary Friendship Group members Mirna Kosanovic, Svetislava Bulajic, Karolj Cizik, Laszlo Varga, Radoslav Milovanovic, Biljana Pantic Prlja, Stefan Zankov, Dragan Colic, Milica Vojic Markovic, Jovan Palalic, Zlata Djeric and Ivan Bauer.
