Fifth Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy

At the sitting held on 1 November, the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy considered the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Activity Information for the period July-September 2012.


State Secretary at the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Edi Majstorovic said that, in the abovementioned period, the Ministry completed an analysis of the existing situation in the spheres within the Ministry’s scope. It also analysed the business dealings of the public utility companies distributing heating, said Majstorovic. The Committee members were especially interested in who is responsible for road maintenance, and the funds allocated for summer and winter maintenance.
At the sitting, the Committee also considered the Ministry of Finance and Economy Activity Reports on the Privatisation Agency for July, August and September 2012. Assistant Minister of Finance and Economy Misela Nikolic briefed the Committee members on the privatisation legislation currently being drafted. Vladislav Cvetkovic, Privatisation Agency Director, stated that the reports detail all of the Agency’s activities and went on to present its current activities.
In the course of the debate, the Committee members gained more detailed information about the preparation of new legislation, bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings, as well as the work of trustees in bankruptcy. They asked the representatives of the Ministry and the Agency for more detailed information on the success analysis of privatisations in Serbia in the Privatisation Agency’s ten years of operation. In the course of the debate, they also discussed the problems and consequences of unsuccessful privatisations in Serbia.
Following the debate, the Committee adopted the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s reports by a majority of votes.
In the continuation, at the proposal of Committee member Slavica Savic, the Committee decided to organise a public hearing on the Situation and perspectives of the metal industry enterprises in Serbia, to be held on 20 November at the National Assembly House.
The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairperson, Dr Aleksandra Tomic.
