Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Deputy Chairman Meets with Milan Busic, Serb from Croatia
Miodrag Linta, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, met today with Milan Busic, Serb from Topusko in Croatia.
After the church synod meeting on 19 August in the village of Rujevac in Croatia, Busic was arrested for wearing Serbian emblems on his clothes with the claim that he was spreading hate speech and wearing Chetnik paraphernalia. He claims that he was subjected to open death threats, he was accused of postings on social networks he was not responsible for with the insinuation that MP Miodrag Linta was the financier of this type of disturbance. Even though he was released after questioning, Busic is under constant pressure by the police and as a single father fears for his and his family’s lives.
Miodrag Linta condemned the illegal acts of the part of the Croatian police most severely and gave full support to Milan Busic in his fight for truth and justice and the right to free expression of his national identity. Linta said that he would inform the Serbian ministries of the interior and foreign affairs about the meeting and ask to initiate dialogue with Zagreb officials with the aim of halting the illegal procedures launched against Milan Busic. Otherwise, Busic said he was determined to fight for truth and justice before the Croatian court system. In that case he expects the support of the EU Delegation and other international organisations in the Republic of Croatia, of the Republic of Serbia, Serbian organisations in Croatia headed by the Serbian National Council, the three Serb MPs in the Croatian Parliament and other associations.
