Constitutional and Legislative Issues Committee Members Meet with Members of National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Constitutional Affairs and Legislative Committees
The members Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues had a meeting today, at the National Assembly House with the members of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and the Legislative Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, to promote cooperation and exchange relevant experiences.
The parliamentarians discussed their respective committees’ duties and scope. They focused on their role in the legislative process, opinions issued on documents on the parliament’s agenda, assessment of alignment with the constitution and legal system. The officials also discussed the true nature of the consolidated text of a law, possible amendment and modification of laws once the consolidated text is published, authentic interpretation and harmonisation of the legislation with the EU acquis. They shared the experiences and practice of launching constitutionality assessment procedures for laws, other regulations or general acts, procedure for submitting amendments to the constitution, as well as experiences and potential cooperation between the constitutional court and the committees.
The committee members declared the discussion and exchange of views very useful for future work and called for continued cooperation between the committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.
