18th Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society
At the sitting held on 12 May, the members of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society discussed, in principle, the Bill on Textbooks and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Legal Protection of Industrial Design, submitted by the Government.
Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Dr Srdjan Verbic informed the Committee members that the Ministry had proposed that the Government withdraw the Bill on Textbooks from Assembly procedure so that some of its provisions could be improved.
Elaborating the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Legal Protection of Industrial Design, Minister Verbic said that it aims to eliminate the imprecise formulations and establish a more efficient system of protection for industrial design, as well as employ the recommendations of the European Commission. Following a short discussion, the Committee accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Legal Protection of Industrial Design.
The Committee members also discussed and adopted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Recognition and Equivalence of Public Documents on Attained Education and Academic Titles and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia on Mutual Recognition of Public Documents on Attained Education and Professional, Academic and Scientific Titles, both elaborated by Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Dr Srdjan Verbic.
Committee Chairperson MA Aleksandra Jerkov then proceeded to inform the Committee members on the course of the establishment of the National Education Council, after the National Assembly had adopted the authentic interpretation of Article 13, paragraph 3, item 5 of the Law on the Basis of the System of Education and Upbringing.
