13th Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At its 13th sitting, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society discussed the implementation of the Law on Textbooks and Other Teaching Aids.
In the course of the debate, the Committee members spoke of the new law on textbooks and other teaching aids currently being drafted, the responsibility and procedure for textbook authorisation, as well as the recommendations of the Ombudsman and Anti-Corruption Agency.


The Committee members concluded that the recommendations of the Anti-Corruption Agency contained in the Analysis Report on the textbook authorisation and textbook selection process in schools, as well as the Ombudsman’s recommendations made in the control procedure of the legality and regularity of the work of the Institute for Improvement of Education and Upbringing, National Education Council and Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development in connection with the complaint of Novi Logos publishing company from Belgrade, should be included in the new law on textbooks and other teaching aids currently being drafted.
In addition to the Committee members, assistant ministers of education, science and technological development Vesna Fila and Zoran Kostic, Tamara Luksic-Orlandic and Natasa Jovic from the Ombudsman’s office, Deputy Director of the Institute for Improvement of Education and Upbringing Gordana Mijatovic, as well as Desanka Radunovic and Zora Luzanin from the National Education Council also took part in the discussion.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Prof. Dr Miodrag Stojkovic.
