Seventh Sitting of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending
At the sitting held on 4 October, the members of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending considered the Bill amending the Law on Financing Local Self-Governments, in principle.
The Bill was presented by State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Nenad Mijatovic.
Mijatovic said that the Bill introduces changes into two articles of the Law to allow for the reallocation of revenue between local and state-level budgets. Even though these changes are technical they will help balance the fiscal effect and make it more favourable by reallocating 4.8 billion RSD worth of funds from the local to the central level. The local self-governments’ participation in the income tax revenue will go from 80% to 74% for municipalities, 77% for towns and 66% for the City of Belgrade.
The Committee members then exchanged views on these amendments with the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Ana Brnabic.
Following the discussion the Committee accepted the Bill amending the Law on Financing Local Self-Governments, in principle, by majority vote.
The sitting was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Zoran Krasic, Veroljub Arsic, Zoltan Pek, Goran Kovacevic, Momo Colakovic, Olivera Pesic, Radmilo Kostic, Srbislav Filipovic, Prof.Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, Zoran Bojanic, Milan Lapcevic and Milorad Mircic.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Dr Aleksandra Tomic.
