The roundtable was attended by the members of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending, the Committee’s support staff and representatives of the State Audit Institution. Opening the roundtable, National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending Veroljub Arsic stressed that the cooperation of the Committee and the National Assembly with the State Audit Institution is following an upward trend and that it is very important that the State Audit Institution be independent. By controlling public spending, the State Audit Institution enables the National Assembly to exercise its oversight duties in full, in line with the laws and in the interest of the Serbian citizens, said Arsic.

The President of the State Audit Institution Radoslav Sretenovic highlighted the excellent cooperation and constructive dialogue between the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending and the State Audit Institution. Sretenovic presented the State Audit Institution’s legal duties and status and the development of the relationship between the National Assembly and the State Audit Institution.

The participants of the roundtable were also presented foreign experiences of the relationship between the parliament and supreme auditing authority.
