National Assembly Speaker Receives Bundestag Parliamentary Practice Programme Interns

National Assembly Speaker MA Nebojsa Stefanovic received the interns of the Bundestag Parliamentary Practice programme. The meeting between the Speaker and students was attended by the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Germany, Vesna Markovic, and German Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Heinz Wilhelm.

The National Assembly Speaker was pleased to meet the recipients of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarship whom he informed, in an open and friendly conversation, about the innovations as regards the National Assembly's communication with and openness to the public. Stefanovic also said he expected the National Assembly to continue to strengthen its role, which, he noted, means an increased autonomy in decision-making, reminding the students of certain recent decisions as well as the practices which bring it closer to the role the Bundestag plays in Germany.
The German Ambassador was also pleased with the meeting, reminding the participants of the importance of this type of cooperation. Ambassador Wilhelm also shared his expectation that the cooperation with the Parliament would continue, be even more successful and involve even more students who will have the opportunity to take part in parliamentary work in both Serbia and Germany, and that these young people will be the political leaders of the future.
The interns proceeded to introduce themselves to the National Assembly Speaker, Ambassador Wilhelm and the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Germany, Vesna Markovic. The National Assembly Speaker said that their experience should be utilized for the further development of the Parliament’s potential, stressing that, in order to ensure the participation of young experts in the Parliament’s work, the National Assembly would need more autonomy in the planning of its own resources.
