Head of National Assembly Standing Delegation to CSTO PA at Meeting of CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation and Working Meeting of Heads of Parliamentary Delegations of CSTO Member Countries to OSCE PA in Saint Petersburg

The Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to CSTO PA Milovan Drecun took part in the meeting of the of CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation and the working meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of CSTO member countries to OSCE PA, on 15 and 16 April 2015, in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.


Milovan Drecun, the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO PA), took part in the meeting of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation and the working meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of CSTO member countries to OSCE PA, as an observer.

The Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation met at the Parliamentary Centre in Saint Petersburg.

Authorised representative of the Republic of Tajikistan at the CSTO and Chairman of the CSTO Permanent Council, advisor at the Tajik Embassy in the Russian Federation, Badriddin Mirzoyev, presented the priorities of the Tajik chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation in 2015.

Chair of the Commission on Legislation and House Rules of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Deputy Chair of the Committee for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Euro-Asian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalykova informed the Commission members about the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia concerning foreign policy and security. She launched the initiative to set up a parliamentary assembly of cooperation between the Union of Belarus and Russia and the Republic of Serbia.

The working meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe took place at the Tauride Palace.

Artashes Geghamyan, Head of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and member of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, spoke about the results of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly delegation’s participation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly winter session (Vienna 18-20 February 2015).

At the meeting of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation and the working meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of CSTO member countries to OSCE PA, Milovan Drecun, the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, spoke of the priorities of Serbia’s chairmanship of the OSCE. He stressed that Serbia, as Chair of the OSCE, wants to be an element of cooperation, discussion, compromise, agreement, in a word peaceful common solution to problems and opening of prospects for general development, and is trying to, in this rapidly developing multipolar world, cooperate with everybody in the interest of peace and prosperity for all. Drecun stressed that Serbia, as the Chair, is working at full capacity, that it is balanced, neutral, transparent, and, as has already proved evident, credible, and it operates in a way that contributes not to new divisions and conflicts, but to consensus in the Organisation. He said that the participation of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, in the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers in Dushanbe on 2 April 2015 is a step toward strengthening the cooperation between the two organisations. The Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to CSTO PA stressed that Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is putting in extra efforts and emphasising that Serbia, as Chair of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, is doing all in its power to objectively and impartially help the resolution of the conflicts and problems in Ukraine.
