The Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Eldar Hasanov opined that Azerbaijan and Serbia share a very similar history, adding that Azerbaijan would continue to fully support Serbia in the future. He stressed that the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic’s visit to Azerbaijan was very important because of the signing of the Declaration of Strategic Partnership between Serbia and Azerbaijan on the occasion. The Ambassador said that the economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries needs to be solidified, as does their agricultural cooperation. He added that there are potential investors in Azerbaijan interested in investing into Serbia and taking part in the privatisation, and listed Corridor 11 as a good example of the existing cooperation.
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Azerbaijan, Vladimir Cvijan said that the group has 20 members which is an indicator of Serbia’s commitment to Azerbaijan. Cvijan opined that the economic cooperation is moving in a good direction, but it should be even better. He pointed out that the Serbian people need to learn more about Azerbaijan so as to boost cooperation in all spheres and shared his pleasure at the signing of the Declaration of Strategic Partnership between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Azerbaijan Srdjan Mikovic, Igor Becic, Zoran Radovanovic, Predrag Markovic and Emir Elfic said they hoped political, economic, cultural and medical cooperation would continue and be furthered in the future.
The meeting was also attended by the following members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Azerbaijan: Enis Imamovic, Zoran Kasalovic, Zoran Pralica, Aleksandar Radojevic, Dejan Rajcic and Dragan Sormaz.
