The Foreign Affairs Committee Deputy Chairperson said a student exchange would contribute to a better cultural understanding and strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.

Committee member Dubravka Filipovski thanked the South African Republic for its principled position and continued support on the Kosovo-Metohija issue i.e. its support of Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Filipovski is sure that by signing a cooperation agreement the two countries would significantly contribute to the improvement of economic and bilateral relations. She also highlighted the important role the Serbian diaspora in the South African Republic could play in promoting the cooperation between the two countries.

Dr Ivan Bauer, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said that though Serbia and the South African Republic share decades-long friendship, that there is still room for improvement of cooperation in all areas, especially the area of science and education, as well as economy. He also highlighted the importance of ties between local communities for the improvement of overall relations.
