Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy Committee Members Meet with Indonesian Investors and Entrepreneurs Delegation

The Chairperson of Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy, Dr Aleksandra Tomic and Committee members, met today, at the National Assembly House, with a delegation of the Investors and Entrepreneurs Committee of the Republic of Indonesia.

The delegation was headed by Achmad Kurniadi, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia Semuel Samson also took part in the meeting.
Committee Chairperson Dr Aleksandra Tomic greeted, on the behalf of the National Assembly, the delegation of Indonesian investors and entrepreneurs who accepted the invitation the National Assembly Speaker, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic extended to them in March, when he was visiting Indonesia. She said that the visit offers the Indonesian guests an opportunity to gain direct information on the potentials for boosting cooperation between the two countries, primarily on the economic level, and establish direct contact with potential Serbian partners. This is also an opportunity to exchange experiences and for the potential Serbian partners to learn more about the investment ambient in Indonesia so as to increase the export into the Asian country in the future.
Investment Coordinating Board Deputy Chairman Achmad Kurniadi briefed the hosts on the scope of the Board which aims to assist foreign investors. He opined that there is ample opportunity to expand economic cooperation between the two countries and that Indonesia has many field other countries like to invest in. Ship building, agriculture, mining, construction and tourism are areas which show cooperation potential, and one of the reasons why Serbia is not one of 114 countries investing into Indonesia is the fact that it lacks information about the conditions and advantages available to attract investment into the country. Kurniadi said that realizing investment into Indonesia calls for Parliamentary support and invited Serbian entrepreneurs to visit Indonesia as future partners.
Talking to the members of the Indonesian delegation, the members of the Committee on Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy had many questions and emphasised how importance the visit is for the identification of priorities in future cooperation. They stressed that there is a chance for Serbian partners to be involved in the construction of ports, roads and airports, as well as in the sphere of energy. The trade exchange which is insufficient in view of Serbia and Indonesia’s potentials should also be improved.
The meeting was attended by Committee members Nebojsa Beric, Dusan Petrovic, Bosko Ristic, Radojko Obradovic, Kenan Hajdarevic, Dragomir Karic, Slavica Savic and Velimir Stanojevic.
