Dr Vladimir Orlic, EU - Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Chair, Takes Part in EU - Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Online Meeting

Today, National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chair of the EU - Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Dr Vladimir Orlic took part in the online meeting of the EU - Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Online Meeting.

In his address, Dr Orlic presented the results of the second phase of the Inter-Party Dialogue, as well as the National Assembly’s work in the previous period, with special reference to the activities related to the work of independent bodies and the National Assembly’s participation in the EU accession. Along with the full implementation of all the measures agreed at the Inter-Party Dialogue, he highlighted the record low percentage of laws adopted under emergency procedure, adoption of the MPs’ Code of Conduct, successfully implemented Constitutional amendment in the part related to the judiciary, as well as the adopted positions for a large number of new negotiation chapters.

The National Assembly Deputy Speaker also announced the inauguration of a new National Assembly legislature: "As you know, the result of the presidential elections was determined quickly: with a convincing victory in the first round and more than 2.2 million votes, President Aleksandar Vucic began his second term. And the results of the parliamentary elections were determined just yesterday: the Republic Electoral Commission adopted the report on the final results - unanimously.

The representatives of all participants in the elections, all the electoral lists and all the candidates confirmed their common belief: that the results are indisputable, achieved in a legal and legitimate electoral process and faithfully reflect the electoral will of the citizens. This speaks of the character of the new National Assembly legislature, which we expect soon. I am convincede that at the next meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Committee, as a new National Assembly legislature, we will once again have the pleasure to share new results with you, ones that will show that we are successfully reaching the best European standards, and in many respects, as you can see, managing to surpass them."
