Arsic and World Bank Representatives Discuss Project: Strengthening Fiscal Management in Western Balkans

The Chairman of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending Veroljub Arsic and Committee member Ana Beloica Martac met today at the National Assembly with representatives of the World Bank to discuss project “Strengthening Fiscal Management in the Western Balkans”, conducted by the World Bank with the support of EU funds.

Veroljub Arsic expressed gratitude that the Republic of Serbia is part of this important project, adding that it is important for the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending to take part in the conduct of project of this kind, in line with its authorities and competences.

World Bank representative Sanja Madzarevic Sujster briefed the hosts on the details of the project, saying that it is planned to take four years and has two components: focus on fiscal responsibility and fiscal risk assessment, within which the participants will conduct and in-depth analysis of expenditure, strengthening macroeconomic projections and fiscal rules. The project envisages regional activities, as well as activities for each of the countries involved, based on specific needs, said she.

The participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on the forms and possibilities of involvement of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending in the project, with the aim of developing the Committee service and the MPs’ fiscal management analysis capacities.
