Serbia Supports Efforts to Find New Sustainable Development Strategies
Addressing the general debate on sustainable development, Vladimir Marinkovic, member of the Serbian delegation participating in the 128th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Ecuador, urged the MPs from all over the world to define a new sustainable development strategy and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, to take concrete steps conducive to the full implementation of said strategy.
This year’s general debate was attended by 27 parliament speakers and about 80 MPs from the member states. The general debate is the central event of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
In his address, Vladimir Marinkovic underlined the difficulties and challenges caused by the global economic crisis and called for further economic, political, social and cultural integration in the world on the principles of market economy, equal opportunities, social justice and solidarity.
“Our respective countries need to pass laws and propose policies which would help us successfully overcome the impact of the global economic crisis and offer solutions which would prevent a new crisis from developing. All parliaments in the world should aim to improve the citizens’ quality of living”, said Marinkovic.
