The Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) Jasmina Obradovic, and delegation members Zdravko Mladenovic, Marija Jevdjic, and Mitar Kovac are taking part in the 67th Plenary Session of the PABSEC General Assembly in Tbilisi and Gori, Georgia from 28 June to 1 July 2026.
Delegations from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine, as well as representatives of the PABSEC International Secretariat, are also taking part in the session.
The participants were addressed by the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khatuna Totladze. They emphasised the importance the cooperation within the Black Sea region has for Georgia. In their welcoming speeches, they stressed that Georgia, as a founding member of the PABSEC, has a great interest in cooperation within the Black Sea region, especially in the areas of energy, trade and transport. The Black Sea region has great potential that the member states should use in the best way they can through joint projects.
The main theme of the 67th PABSEC General Assembly is: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Promoting Regional Cooperation: Innovation, Connectivity and Sustainable Development in the Black Sea Region.
In the general debate, the heads of the standing delegations to PABSEC addressed the attending. In her address, Jasmina Obradovic emphasised that the Republic of Serbia recognizes the importance of digitalisation and artificial intelligence as one of the pillars of its development. According to the latest, 2025 Government AI Readiness Index, published by Oxford Insights, Serbia ranks 39th in the world, which is a significant indicator of progress, as well as an incentive for further development. Through national strategies and legislative activities, we are working to create an enabling environment for innovation and the application of new technologies. The National Strategy covering the period to 2035 is currently being drafted, the central part of which is the development of a domestic large language model, which will further strengthen the technological sovereignty and competitiveness of our economy. She emphasised that the future of the region depends on the ability to recognize common interests and act together. Therefore, it is important to develop dialogue, cooperation and a common vision for a connected, innovative and sustainable Black Sea region, for the benefit of all citizens.
The PABSEC General Assembly adopted the activity reports for the previous period, as well as reports of the PABSEC committees and recommendations on the use of artificial intelligence for innovation, connectivity and sustainable development in the Black Sea region.
