Thirty-Third Sitting of the Finance Committee

At the sitting held on 22 July, the Finance Committee considered the Bill on the Debt Contract between the Republic of Serbia and Alpha Bank Serbia a.


At the sitting held on 22 July, the Finance Committee considered the Bill on the Debt Contract between the Republic of Serbia and Alpha Bank Serbia a.d., Vojvodjanska Banka a.d. Novi Sad and Piraeus Bank a.d. Belgrade, in principle and detail. The Committee also considered the particulars of the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.

Representatives of the Ministry of Finance – Treasury Administration, presented the Bill: the Bill foresees the Republic of Serbia taking up a loan of 90 million EUR to finance the budgetary deficit. In the public procurement proceedings, three banks were selected to borrow from, and one of the vital criteria for the selection was lowest offered effective interest rate. The loan repayment deadline is 5 years.

Following a short discussion, the Committee members accepted the Bill in principle by a majority of votes.

The Committee went on to discuss the same Bill in detail. The deputies submitted a total of 5 amendments, and the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Finance Committee accepted 4 and rejected 1 amendment.

The deputies submitted a total of 9 amendments to the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism. The Government and the Committee did not accept any of the amendments submitted to the Bill.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Zoran Krasic.
