Security Services Control Committee Members Visit National Security and Data Confidentiality Council Office

In line with the Committee’s Activity Plan, the members of the Security Services Control Committee visited the National Security and Data Confidentiality Council Office on 9 September 2013.

In the course of the visit to the National Security and Data Confidentiality Council Office, the members of the Security Services Control Committee toured the Council premises and spoke to the Council Office Director and staff. The Committee members learned about the duties, organisation and operation of the Council Office and progress in the implementation of the Data Confidentiality Law and European Union standards in the field. The Committee members also endorsed the efforts the Council Office expends to expedite the adoption of by-laws necessary for the implementation of the Data Confidentiality Law and harmonisation of other regulations with the Law, stressing that the support of all state authorities and state administration bodies is expected in the matter.
Talking to the Council Office Director, the Committee members noted that a Cyber Defence Strategy should be drafted as soon as possible and concerning it, the Committee members underlined the need for a speedy formulation of clear guidelines and cyber defence models in view of the importance the issue has for European Union talks.
