Security Services Control Committee Conducts First Supervisory Visit to Military Security Agency
The Security Services Control Committee conducted the first supervisory visit to the Military Security Agency on 8 July 2013.
In the course of the visit, using the random sample method, the Committee delegation surveyed the implementation of the special procedures and measures for secret data collection conducted by the Military Security Agency in accordance with the Law on the Military Security and Military Intelligence Agency and Criminal Procedure Code. The Committee delegation ascertained that, in the surveyed instances, the Military Security Agency acted in full accordance with the provisions of the law and legally stipulated procedure.
The Committee delegation which conducted the supervisory visit comprised Committee members Igor Becic and Dr Nenad Popovic and Committee deputy member Jozef Sandor. The Committee delegation was headed by the Committee Chairperson Jadranka Joksimovic. This was the Assembly Committee’s first visit to a security service conducted in order to survey the work of said security service.
In the course of July, the Security Services Control Committee will be paying supervisory visits to the Security Information Agency and Military Intelligence Agency in order survey the legality of the security services’ work, thus fully exercising its inherent legal authority.
