National Assembly Speaker Receives French Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of France Pierre Cochard.


Ambassador Cochard congratulated Speaker Brnabic on assuming the new position, expressing hope that her mandate will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Brnabic pointed out that bilateral relations are at an exceptional level thanks to the successful strategic partnership, which is to have its 185th anniversary this year 2hich is how long the two countries have enjoyed diplomatic relations. She particularly emphasised President Aleksandar Vucic's successful visit to France and meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, which are of great importance for further steps in improving relations between the two countries.

The focus of the meeting was the intensification of parliamentary cooperation in the coming period, as well as the formation of a Friendship Group, in order to further strengthen the political dialogue and contribute to better understanding and cooperation in various fields.

Speaker Brnabic thanked France for its support in the selection of Serbia as the Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) for 2025, stressing the importance of this partnership for Serbia.

The meeting also touched on the initiation of political dialogue for the purpose of improving electoral processes and strengthening democracy, as well as the formation of a working group for the implementation of ODIHR recommendations. The officials highlighted the importance of active participation of civil society organisations in improving the electoral process.

Ambassador Cochard once again emphasised France's commitment to further strengthening relations with Serbia, stressing that it will continue to support Serbia on its European path. He highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and expressed belief that the cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop to their mutual benefit.
