National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Head of OSCE Mission in Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Jan Braathu.

Brnabic shared with Ambassador Braathu her satisfaction with the fact that she had managed to establish a dialogue with the opposition parties, adding that it would be a big mistake for the opposition to abandon it.

She believes that there should be no ultimatums in the dialogue and hopes that it will continue despite the disagreements for the benefit of all the citizens and the society. She said that she will continue to work devotedly on the implementation of the ODIHR recommendations and that she will strive to gather the opposition parties around the issue, adding that she was surprised by the opposition's withdrawal from joint work on the fulfilment of the ODIHR recommendations the previous day.

Ambassador Braathu welcomed the National Assembly Speaker’s willingness to continue with the productive cooperation in all areas of parliamentary support in which the OSCE Mission operates. The Ambassador said that the meeting of the Collegium was a very important first step and that the dialogue should continue in order to reach an understanding which would result in constructive solutions. He congratulated the Parliament Speaker on it, pointing out that the OSCE encourages her further work and commitment in that field, as well as work on the implementation of the ODIHR recommendations, and adding that the OSCE Mission will continue to provide all necessary assistance and support in the work of the Assembly. He also congratulated her on her new post and expressed confidence that she will perform it successfully.
