National Assembly Delegation in Official Visit to France

A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia headed by the Speaker, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic made an official visit to the Republic of France on 6 May 2009, at the invitation of the Speaker of the French National Assembly, Bernard Accoyer.



A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia headed by the Speaker, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic made an official visit to the Republic of France on 6 May 2009, at the invitation of the Speaker of the French National Assembly, Bernard Accoyer. Natasa Vuckovic, deputy and head of the Serbia-France parliamentary friendship group was also in the delegation.

The NARS Speaker talked to National Assembly Speaker Accoyer, President of the Senate C. Larche, as well as the deputy head of the France-Serbia parliamentary friendship group.

The talks focused around the intensification of parliamentary cooperation, Serbia’s actions towards overcoming the consequences of the financial crisis and Serbia’s EU accession process.

Both sides expressed a wish and readiness to improve and diversify parliamentary cooperation. One of the main roles in the process should be played by both parliaments’ friendship groups. The French side stated its willingness to help Serbia in its process of accession to the European Union.

The Assembly Speaker briefed the French side on the Serbian Government’s programme to alleviate the impact of the financial crisis, particularly from the aspect of the budget rebalance, as well as the current legislative activity of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The talks resulted in both sides agreeing to formulate plans and programmes aimed at solidifying cooperation on all levels.
