A delegation of the European Integrations Committee headed by the Chairman, Laszlo Varga and comprising Suzana Grubjesic and Donka Banovic met today at the National Assembly House with Marie-Louise Beck, deputy of the German Bundestag.

Deputy Konstantin Samofalov also spoke to Marie-Louise Beck.

The meetings focused on the political situation in Serbia, Serbia’s approach to the European Union and regional initiatives.

The Bundestag deputy expressed her belief that once it has overcome the economic and financial crisis, the European Union would continue to implement its expansion policy.

Speaking of the obstacles to Serbia’s approach to the European Union, Laszlo Varga said that Serbia was implementing every necessary measure to ensure full cooperation with The Hague Tribunal in order to continue the European integration process.

Konstantin Samofalov affirmed Serbia’s dedication to its preparations to join the European Union, at the same time paying full attention to regional cooperation so as to achieve regional stability.

Regarding Kosovo-Metohija, the deputies expressed an expectation that the International Court of Justice in The Hague would enable the continuation of talks on the matter.

In the meetings, it was stressed that by adopting the Declaration Condemning the Crime in Srebrenica, the National Assembly had given its contribution to the reconciliation process among the states on the territory of the former SFRY.

In the continuation of the visit, Marie-Louise Beck talked to deputy Jelena Trivan. In the meeting, the officials exchanged opinions on the political situation and regional initiatives, as well as the process of Serbia’s approach to the European Union.
