Green Parliamentary Group Holds Two-Day Seminar

The seminar was opened by Ms. Sonja Licht, President of the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, and Mr. Zarko Petrovic, Team Leader for Resilient Development of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), who emphasized the importance of the topic through the goals of the European Green Deal, Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and fair transition. On the first day of the seminar, the MPs were briefed on the results achieved in previous legislatures by former Green Parliamentary Group coordinator Ms Nada Lazic, as well as given a comprehensive overview of the negotiating position for Chapter 27 by State Secretary at the Ministry of Environmental Protection Mr Ivan Karic. On the second day of the seminar, the MPs discussed financing in the field of environment and the coverage of the topic in the media. All the participants agreed that additional efforts are needed to put environmental protection in the focus of the entire population and decision-making process.

The realization of this activity was supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNPD) Serbia Office under the auspices of project “Capacity Development for Improved Implementation of Multilateral Environmental Agreements”, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
