Gordana Comic and Laslo Varga Talk to Portuguese European Movement Delegation

Today at the National Assembly House, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Gordana Comic and European Integrations Committee Chairman Laslo Varga met with the members of the Portuguese European Movement delegation participating in the International conference on Portugal’s experiences in the process of joining the European Union.



Today at the National Assembly House, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Gordana Comic and European Integrations Committee Chairman Laslo Varga met with the members of the Portuguese European Movement delegation participating in the International conference on Portugal’s experiences in the process of joining the European Union.

The members of the Portuguese delegation pointed out that their country supports Serbia’s European path and deemed that Portugal’s experiences in the process of accession to the European Union can be very useful for Serbia and its European perspective. Underlining the great similarities between Serbia and Portugal, they expressed their readiness to offer Serbia assistance on its road to European Union membership.

In the conversation, the Serbian officials emphasised Serbia’s firm dedication to the European integration process, adding that its two priorities in 2009 are placement on the white Schengen list and applying for European Union membership. Thanking Portugal for its support of Serbia’s European integration, they also stated that because of the similarity between the two countries the Portuguese experiences can be of significant help to Serbia on its progress towards EU membership.
