Forty-Fourth Sitting of the Committee on Science and Technological Development
At the sitting held on 8 April, the Committee on Science and Technological Development considered the Vinca Nuclear Science Institute Information on the degree of radiation found in agricultural produce and raw materials for the production of mineral fertilizers on the domestic market.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Science Radivoje Mitrovic said that the sphere of radiation protection of the population and food for human consumption in
Director of the Agency for Ionizing Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Dr Mirjana Radenkovic informed the Committee that Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences and the authorised institutes control the radiation levels in imported agricultural produce and raw materials for mineral fertilizers. The inspections in charge of imported goods control the radioactivity of all the imported foodstuffs, as well as raw materials. 11 institutes and laboratories have been accredited for the inspections. The list of products controlled is set by the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management.
The Committee members requested that a comprehensive debate be organised on the topic in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic.
