European Integration Committee Chairperson Talks to European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia
The Chairperson of the European Integration Committee, Milica Delevic, met today, at the National Assembly House, with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, Jelko Kacin.
The meeting focused on Serbia’s progress in the Euro-integration process, results achieved and challenges still awaiting Serbia on the road to the EU. Milica Delevic briefed the Rapporteur on the upcoming activities of the European Integration Committee and the National Assembly’s work dynamics as regards meeting the conditions necessary for Serbia to be given a date for the commencement of negotiations with the EU.
Kacin commended the Serbian authorities’ commitment to continue he reform process and meet all the requisites, emphasising the importance of further strengthening the Parliament’s role in the process of Serbia’s approach to European integration. He stated that the continuation of the dialogue with Pristina and the fight against systemic corruption and crime are clear indicators of Serbia’s readiness to continue its progress towards its goal - the date for the start of negotiations for EU membership.
