Women’s Parliamentary Network Issues Press Release
The Women’s Parliamentary Network urges the Serbian media to report on the visits of all the Serbian Parliamentary delegations objectively and truthfully as befits the institution of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
It is inappropriate and improper to refer to a delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia comprising 20 women MPs, the Chairman of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality, Meho Omerovic, as well as women representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, by pejorative and inappropriate names and compare them to “a Turkish TV show harem”.
The purpose of the Women’s Parliamentary Network’s visit to the Finnish Parliament is to foster cooperation between Finnish and Serbian women MPs so as to exchange best European experiences on the political participation of women in the process of introduction of gender sensitive policies.
