Tenth Sitting of the Gender Equality Committee
The Gender Equality Committee held its tenth sitting on 7 March, chaired by the Committee Chairperson, Elena Bozic-Talijan.

Opening the sitting the Chairperson reminded the Committee that at the second sitting held on 13 July 2007 they brought a Decision to forward a proposal for the formation of a Children’s Rights Committee to the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Working Group for the drafting of Rules of Procedure. At the same sitting the Committee brought a Decision on the formation of a Children’s Rights Working Group.
The Committee Chairperson proposed that, so as to enable a grater independence in their activities dealing with children’s rights issues, a Children’s Rights Sub-Committee be formed instead of the existing Working Group, which will operate until the formation of the Children’s Rights Committee. It was also proposed that the Committee members elected into the Working Group be the members of the Sub-Committee. The Chairperson’s proposal was unanimously accepted by the Committee which brought a Decision on the formation of a Children’s Rights Sub-Committee. Members of parliament Milica Vojic-Markovic, Ivana Zecevic, Branka Ljiljak, Nadica Momirov, Natasa Micic and Svetlana Kitic are the members of the Sub-Committee. By a majority of votes the Committee elected member of parliament Nadica Momirov as Sub-Committee Chairperson.
Afterwards, member of parliament Nadica Momirov briefed the Committee members on the meeting between the Committee representatives and the Counselor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran on the state of gender equality in the two countries.
