Stefanovic Meets with Cambodian Ambassador to Serbia

The Chirman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Borko Stefanovic met today in the National Assembly with the Ambassador of Cambodia in Belgrade Tan Bunpa, to discuss the possibilities for strengthening bilateral relations.

Stefanovic said that Cambodia is traditionally a friendly country and there is a lot of room to strengthen mutual relations, which will be greatly contributed to by the opening of the Serbian embassy in Cambodia.

The Ambassador and Stefanovic agreed that there is room to develop economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of tourism and culture, which can be contributed to by intensifying contacts between the parliamentarians of the two countries.

In the course of the conversation, Borko Stefanovic pointed out that our country’s future and strategic goal is to join the European Union as soon as possible, and used the opportunity to thank Cambodia for respecting international law and Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He added that it is vital to continue the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina on all open issues, but that Serbia should not be asked to recognise the independence of the so-called state of Kosovo.

The officials also discussed the current political situation in Serbia and Cambodia ahead of the elections in both countries, as well as the global political situation.
