Seventh Sitting of the Local Self-Government Committee

At a sitting held on 28 December and chaired by the Committee Chairman, Jovan Palalic, the Local Self-Government Committee discussed in detail the Bills on Territorial Organisation of the Republic of Serbia, Local Self-Government, Local Elections and the Capital City.



At a sitting held on 28 December and chaired by the Committee Chairman, Jovan Palalic, the Local Self-Government Committee discussed in detail the Bills on Territorial Organisation of the Republic of Serbia, Local Self-Government, Local Elections and the Capital City.

The sitting was attended by the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Milan Markovic and Secretary General of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), Djordje Stanicic and associates.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia accepted three amendments to the Bill on Territorial Organisation of the Republic of Serbia submitted by members of parliament. The members of the Local Self-Government Committee accepted three amendments, and two Committee members withdrew from procedure their two amendments to the Bill. On Voting Day, the National Assembly will vote on 13 amendments in total submitted to the Bill on Territorial Organisation of the Republic of Serbia.

Members of parliament submitted 52 amendments to the Local Self-Government Bill, out of which the Government of the Republic of Serbia accepted 15. Two Committee members withdrew from procedure their two previously submitted amendments, and the Committee accepted 17 amendments. At the proposal of SCTM representatives, the Committee formulated two amendments to be submitted to the National Assembly for adoption.

Out of the total of 27 amendments submitted to the Local Elections Bill, the Government accepted seven. One Committee member withdrew his amendment from procedure, and the Committee proposed an amendment of their own to the Bill.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Committee accepted five amendments to the Capital City Bill, and the Committee members adopted another amendment which became the Committee’s amendment, so that on Voting day, the National Assembly will vote on 18 amendments in total submitted to the Bill.
