Seventeenth Sitting of the Committee on Health and the Family
At the sitting held on 15 July, the Committee on Health and the Family completed a discussion in principle on the Bill on Blood Transfusion, Bill on Organ Transplantation, Bill on Cell and Tissue Transplantation, Bill on Public Health and Bill on Infertility Treatments by Bio-medical Aided Fertilisation.
At the sitting held on 15 July, the Committee on Health and the Family completed a discussion in principle on the Bill on Blood Transfusion, Bill on Organ Transplantation, Bill on Cell and Tissue Transplantation, Bill on Public Health and Bill on Infertility Treatments by Bio-medical Aided Fertilisation.
The Bills were elaborated by Assistant Ministers of Health Ivana Misic and Zorica Pavlovic, and State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Perisa Simonovic. They briefed the Committee members on the innovations and reasons for the adoption of these laws, stressing that the proposed solutions are harmonised with European Union regulations, relevant conventions and directives regulating the field.
The discussion aired various objections to the proposed solutions, even demands that the proposer withdraw the set of laws. Some Committee members declared the Bills too generalised, saying that the proposal to have them adopted under urgent procedure was not justified, and some were also of the opinion that they shall provoke the displeasure of the expert and academic public. On the other hand, the bills were deemed to have a good basis which, aided by amendments, can give optimal solutions.
Following the discussion, the Committee members accepted the Bills in principle, by a majority of votes, with four reserved opinions.
