Serbia and Uzbekistan PFGs with Video Meeting

The Parliamentary Friendship Group with Uzbekistan, headed by Aleksandar Markovic, had a video meeting with the Uzbek Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia.


Aleksandar Markovic said that Uzbekistan is a friendly country to Serbia, adding that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. He thanked Uzbekistan for its principled position, that of respecting international law and our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Markovic said that the MPs are ready to continue developing parliamentary contacts with their Uzbek counterparts through the work of the respective parliamentary friendship groups and close cooperation of parliamentary working bodies.

The co-heads of the PFG with Serbia Erkin Gadoyev and Gulrukh Agzamova stressed that Uzbekistan has a great friend and partner in Serbia as evidenced by the recent visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Uzbekistan during which 12 agreements in a number of areas which will contribute to the further development of cooperation between the two countries.

The officials stressed that the two countries are eager to see an additional development of economic relations, as well as in the areas of trade, textile industry, IT, culture and education. They agreed that reciprocal support at the multilateral level, within international parliamentary institutions and forums, is also of exceptional importance.

In the course of the meeting, Markovic expressed his satisfaction with Uzbekistan’s confirmed participation in the EXPO 2027 specialised exhibition.

He informed the Uzbek parliamentarians about the difficult position of the Serbian populace of Kosovo-Metohija and Belgrade’s efforts to maintain dialogue and find a sustainable solution.

The meeting was attended by members of the PFG with Uzbekistan Stanislava Janosevic, Sanja Milosevic, Vesna Nedovic and Igor Jaksic.
