Roundtable on Developing and Strengthening Parliamentary Support Service Capacities

The National Assembly hosted a roundtable on Developing and Strengthening Parliamentary Support Service Capacities as part of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation SEE Rule of Law programme.

The participants were greeted by National Assembly Deputy Secretary General Radoslav Vujovic. Presenting the organisation and function of the National Assembly Service, he said that this was the opportunity for the National Assembly Service to learn about the work of the Bundestag’s service so as to improve and strengthen its own capacity. Thorsten Geissler, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation SEE Rule of Law programme, informed the participants about the organisation and mode of operation of the German Bundestag’s service, which was explained in more detail by Thomas Hadamek of the German Bundestag’s Ministerial Council and Head of the Bundestag’s Parliamentary Law Department, by sharing examples from their practice. He also spoke about the significance, implementation tools and visualization of the parliament’s control function. In the discussion, the department heads, secretaries and other National Assembly Service employees had their questions answered, certain points clarified, and the exchange of information and experience helped the participants gain a comprehensive picture of how the two parliaments’ respective services operate and how the capacities of the National Assembly Service could be further developed.

The roundtable was attended by National Assembly Deputy Secretary General Radoslav Vujovic, Assistant Secretary General – Head of the Legislation Sector Mirjana Radakovic, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation SEE Rule of Law programme Thorsten Geissler, representative of the German Bundestag’s Ministerial Council and Head of the Bundestag’s Parliamentary Law Department Thomas Hadamek, as well as department heads, committee secretaries and other staff of the National Assembly’s Legislation Sector and International Relations Sector.
