Republic of Srpska Students Visit National Assembly

Today at the National Assembly, the members of the Youth and Sports Committee received a group of 170 students from the Republic of Srpska in an educational and cultural visit.

Committee Chairman Milan Vuckovic briefed the students on the National Assembly’s work and the work of the Youth and Sports Committee in particular, emphasising its efficiency, absence of party division and efforts in the interest of fulfilling the Committee's competence.

Committee members Tijana Nikolic and Aleksandar Pejcic stressed the excellent cooperation between the parliamentarians from Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, especially the excellent cooperation between their respective committees charged with youth and sport issues. The members of the Youth and Sports Committee were open to respond to any questions the students might have regarding the provisions of the Law on Sport and Law on Youth adopted by the National Assembly.

The guests from the Republic of Srpska were also greeted by National Assembly Secretary General Veljko Odalovic who stressed that Serbia and the Republic of Srpska have established close relations which can no longer be brought into question but rather further improved.

The students were interested in some of the provisions of the Law on Sport, particularly the issues of privatisation of sport associations and the sportsmen and women’s right to national pensions. The students were grateful for the chance to talk to the MPs and the Secretary General stressing their belief that their visit to the National Assembly would further deepen the already favourable relations between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
