Ragus and Korean Delegation Discuss Parliamentary Cooperation

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Marina Ragus, met with a delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, led by the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Serbia, Kim Yong-min.

Ragus stressed how very pleased she was to be hosting a delegation from the Republic of Korea in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia for the first time, adding that the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries should be more frequent and intensive and follow the upward trend in overall bilateral relations.

The National Assembly Deputy Speaker underlined that Serbia is investing intensively in the development of artificial intelligence, robotics and cutting-edge technologies, as well as having modern infrastructure, including science and technology parks, data centres, startups and a highly qualified workforce.

"The specialised international exhibition EXPO 2027 will be an opportunity for Serbia to present its potential in the field of innovation and new technologies," noted Ragus, emphasising the importance of cooperation in the energy sector, which will be one of the priorities for both countries in the coming period.

Speaking about the digital transformation of the National Assembly, Ragus stressed that the parliament plans to further digitise its work and implement tools AI-based. She also pointed out the importance of establishing an adequate legislative framework that will monitor the development of artificial intelligence and ensure its safe and responsible application, calling for cooperation and exchange of experiences in the area.

Thanking the National Assembly Deputy Speaker for the warm welcome, Kim Yong-min opined that artificial intelligence, humanoid robotics, biotechnology and culture are areas with great potential for joint projects and deepening cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Korea.

He pointed out that the Republic of Korea attaches particular importance to cooperation with Serbia in the context of access to the European market, emphasising that he sees Serbia as an important bridge between the Republic of Korea and Europe and a country with a highly qualified workforce and significant potential for the development of advanced industries and energy production.
