At the invitation of the commander of the Gendarmerie, Major-General Borivoje Tesic, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, took part in the fourth Ljubovija 2005 Drina River Regatta. Mr Markovic sailed the entire thirty-six kilometre river stretch taken by the regatta, from Rogacica to Ljubovija. Parts of the event were attended by the Minister of Mining and Energy, Radomir Naumov, the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services, Bojan Dimitrijevic, and deputies Sreto Peric (Serbian Radical Party) and Miloljub Albijanic (G17 Plus).

More than 5,000 participants, in more than 700 boats, sailed for over 10 hours down one of the most beautiful rivers in Serbia, in an event organised by the Drina River Regatta Ecology Association and sponsored by the Ljubovija municipality.
