PFG with Uzbekistan Visits Tashkent and Samarkand

During the official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, the delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Uzbekistan held a series of bilateral meetings, confirming the existence of traditionally strong friendly ties between our countries and the importance of intensifying interparliamentary cooperation.


The delegation of the PFG with Uzbekistan, consisting of PFG Head Aleksandar Markovic and PFG members: Olivera Denic, Igor Jaksic, Vesna Nedovic, Sanja Milosevic, Stanislava Janosevic and Jasmina Karanac, met with the Chair of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, Deputy Chair of the Legislative Chamber Rahim Hakimov, and the co-chairs and members of the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with Serbia. During the visit, the officials expressed a strong interest in regular parliamentary meetings, exchange of ideas and experiences, as well as expanding overall interparliamentary cooperation, primarily through further activities of the friendship groups, as well as through committee meetings and by defining a roadmap for future cooperation. They agreed about the importance of cooperation at the cultural, investment, economic and regional levels, paying significant attention to the issues of cooperation and networking between young parliamentarians.

During the visit, the delegation also participated in the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, Uzbekistan's main investment platform and one of the largest business forums in the region.

Speaking to several Uzbek media outlets, the Head of the PFG with Uzbekistan, Aleksandar Markovic, stressed the importance of continued mutual support between our countries based on the path of trust that was traced by the leaders of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Uzbekistan, expressing his gratitude for Uzbekistan's continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia. He concluded that intensive parliamentary dialogue is of utmost importance for further improvement of relations, and that traditional friendly ties represent a strong starting point towards achieving an even greater level of overall support and friendship.
