Nineteenth Sitting of the Gender Equality Committee
At the sitting held on 10 December, the Gender Equality Committee considered the Republic of Serbia 2010 Budget Bill – Section 21, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
At the sitting held on 10 December, the Gender Equality Committee considered the Republic of Serbia 2010 Budget Bill – Section 21, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
The Committee sitting was chaired by Bojana Stanojevic, Committee Deputy Chairperson.
Next year’s Budget Bill was elaborated by representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Ministry’s Gender Equality Directorate. They stated that the Government had adopted a Strategy for Promotion of Gender Equality, adding that the adoption of an appropriate action plan is also expected. They emphasised that, in addition to budgetary funds, the Gender Equality Directorate’s activities and programmes were also financed by donations, particularly by United Nations agencies.
The Committee members highlighted the importance of passing a new gender equality law and its speedy implementation.
