National Assembly Speaker Talks to Russian Ambassador to Serbia
The National Assembly Speaker, Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic, received the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia, H.E. Alexander Chepurin, at the National Assembly House.
Speaker Stefanovic said he was pleased to hear that the crisis in Syria is likely to come to a peaceful solution, commending the Russian side for its contribution to that end and the initiative to put chemical weapons under control, urging for a lasting peace which is a pre-requisite for the continuation of the democratic processes in Syria.
Ambassador Chepurin informed Speaker Stefanovic about the State Duma’s upcoming international activities which include the representatives of the Serbian Parliament. The officials highlighted the importance of the activities planned to mark the 100th anniversary of World War One. They agreed to closely coordinate these activities which also include a visit by the Speaker of the State Duma, Sergei Naryshkin, to Serbia in the first quarter of 2014.
